Nice list, I should also point out some commercial games that have become opensource. Quake 1 - http://www.idsoftware.comQuake 2 - http://www.idsoftware.comAliens vs Preditor 1 - http://www.avpnews.comRise Of The Triad - http://www.idsoftware.com - id think also the older wolfenstien and doom I think are both opensource same id site. I think duke nukem 3d is now opensource but id have to double check. To add to your list of quake engine modifications, here is the one I am using for my upcomming samurai game: QFusion - http://hkitchen.quakesrc.org/This engine is fantastic, quake 3 map support, md2, md3, and dpm (halflife like format) model format support, full quake 3 shader support (ie mirrors, cool moving stuff) Ive added bumpmapping to this engine and to say its cool is a grand understatement |

Marvelous, thanks for the Quake open source additions. I'll add them to my list! BTW, if I can recall, Rise of the Triad was distributed by Apogee back in the day...so I'm not quite sure if its by ID. |

Yes you are correct, I was incoherant at the time of writing The proper link is http://www.3drealms.com/rott/Apogee changed names to 3drealms shortly after the release of rott, rott was intended to be a sequel to the original doom but the directors changed thier minds close to the end heh. Probably why I forgot. 3 other things, aliens vs preditor doesnt really fit under quake engines, it was designed by a group from Fox Interactive called Rebellion, and then Aliens vs Predators 2 was made by Sierra. The engine itself is quite different from the quake engine, not related at all, its purley direct x based where all quake engines are mainly opengl/software. And you could add Darkplaces quake 1 engine which is a pretty intense engine overhaul, located here: http://www.icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/And another really popular quake 2 engine modification is Quake 2 Max which is located here http://www.planetquake.com/quake2max/ |

The Irrlicht Engine supports Dev-C++ 5. It also looks pretty good. The shadows in the screenies are very accurate. Hrm... [EDIOT!] I think I will tamper with this engine...
